Accotink Creek contains numerous riffle-run-pool sequences with good holding pools and an abundance of large woody debris. Primary access is via the FCPA Wakefield Park facility off of Braddock Road.

The delayed harvest section of this stream extends from Route 236 (Little River Turnpike) downstream 1.9 miles to Route 260 (Braddock Road). This section is bound by Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) floodplain park that belies the stream's urban setting (the upper boundry is adjacent to the capital beltway).
